Quality Manager - Department Manager

Salary

£60,000 to £65,000 per annum plus Bonus, Pension, Private Medical, 26 days holidays + bank holidays, on-site Gym

8am till 4pm, Monday to Friday - flexible start/finish times

Commutable from Fareham, Southampton, Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Havant, Chichester and surrounding areas

This role is a Quality Manager (Technical Manager) and department manager. You will be the go-to for all and anything quality and carries a high degree of responsibility. Managing a team of up to 12 quality staff.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a Quality Team of 12 staff members, improving quality systems and processes, compliance and standards management, overseeing quality KPIs and short/medium/long term objectives and being the first point of call for all customers and client related issues and problems.
  • Act as the company’s primary Quality liaison, competently and professionally representing the company with customers, suppliers and external bodies as required.
  • Ensure all complaints (external, internal non‑conformances and suppliers as required) are effectively managed to root cause, with preventative and corrective actions implemented and monitored through the TPM structure.
  • Implement and drive continuous improvement activities for the site, through the TPM structure, working to agreed site KPIs, identifying trends and risk, developing sustainable solutions whilst ensuring the commitment and buy‑in of all relevant personnel and continual monitoring.
  • Be seen as a driver of change by motivating and inspiring all personnel in quality matters, instilling a quality culture to be proud of. Train, develop and coach personnel, ensuring their own personal development, and that their competencies develop in line with business needs.
  • Work with the Compliance Manager on all aspects of site compliance, ensuring standards are upheld including BRC, ISO9001, ISO14001, and FSC/PEFC standards which ensures product quality, safety and legality.
  • Conduct traceability exercises and mock product recalls in line with the company standards.
  • Work closely with the Technical team (Product & Design Manager, Design and NPD teams) to ensure that new product launches (including trials) meet product quality, safety and legality expectations and are introduced into production in a streamlined efficient manner.
Requirements
  • Experienced Quality Manager or Technical Manager - department manager seeking a challenging career move.
  • Must have experience of working in a similar role, ideally in Manufacturing (most considered including FMCG, Food, Dairy, Packaging, Manufacturing).
  • Leadership / management experience of a team of any size.
  • Familiar with Quality Standards and Compliance and Audits; must have experience of BRC – this is essential.
  • Strong root cause analysis and continuous improvement experience.
  • Ideally experience dealing with customer complaints and improvements.
  • Resilient and approachable; strong people manager is absolutely essential.
