Quality Manager - Flexible Days Up to £45,000

Location: Leicester area

Team: 4 direct reports (including 1 Apprentice), customer-facing role

Your Opportunity

Join a well‑established precision engineering business servicing heavy‑duty sectors (yellow goods, agriculture, power & rail) as a Quality Manager. You’ll lead the quality function, look after a small team, engage with key customers and help drive continuous improvement across the workshop and measurement / inspection processes.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and manage all aspects of quality assurance and control: inspection, non‑conformance, corrective actions, root cause, process improvement
  • Oversee the team of 4, including one Apprentice, providing coaching and development
  • Hold regular customer quality review meetings and act as their point‑of‑contact for quality queries
  • Work with manufacturing, engineering and inspection teams to tighten tolerances, reduce rejects and improve first‑pass yield
  • Maintain and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 (and other customer specific standards)
  • Analyse data, produce quality metrics, drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with operations to embed quality culture and ensure machining/fabrication meets specifications.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven experience (ideally 3‑5 years) as a Quality Manager/Quality Engineer in a manufacturing, machining or fabrication environment
  • Experience leading a small team and mentoring apprentices or junior staff
  • Strong customer‑facing skills – confident in meetings and able to articulate quality issues/resolutions to customers
  • Solid knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001), inspection methods, non‑conformance control, root‑cause analysis
  • Analytical mindset: comfortable with data, metrics, reports and continuous improvement tools (e.g. 8D, 5 Why, SPC)
  • Excellent communicator, organised, decisive and proactive
  • A background in metal‑working, machining or fabrication is highly beneficial.
