Active Care Group is recruiting a Quality Learning & Development Nurse for our Nottingham neuro service. You will balance clinical shifts with leading education, quality assurance and governance to raise standards of care for brain injury and complex neuro conditions.
You will develop staff competency, deliver mandatory and specialist training, and lead local learning strategies, reporting to organisational leaders while maintaining strong clinical credibility.

This is a dual role which will include a rosta’d shift at this service whilst working closely with the Learning & Development team for the remainder. At Nottingham Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre, we offer rehabilitation, care and support to people with a brain injury or other neurological condition. 37.63 hours per week, on a rota basis (Monday - Sunday) You will be required to work a minimum of one full shift a week at your designated place of work without exception reporting to the Service or Hospital Director/ Clinical Lead Deputy Manager/ Ward Manager as required. For other hours of work within this post, you will have a dotted line of reporting to the Learning and Development Director.
Purpose of the Role The Quality & Learning Development Nurse is responsible for driving improvements in clinical quality, professional practice and workforce capability and training across the neuro service. The role combines clinical credibility with education, quality assurance and governance to support the organisation's ambition to develop high-performing neuro hospitals. Working under the sites registered manager, and also the operational leadership of the service, with a dotted-line professional accountability to the Active Neuro Director of Nursing and Quality, and the Director of Learning & Development, the post holder will ensure that learning is translated into consistently safe, evidence-based clinical practice. The role will maintain direct clinical competence by undertaking minimum of one clinical shift per week within the most clinically complex area of the service.
Reports to: Hospital/Nursing Home Registered Manager Clinical Lead/ Deputy Manager Professionally (Dotted Line): Director of Nursing & Quality – Active Neuro Director of Learning & Development Works closely with: Operational Director Consultants Therapy Leads Ward Managers Clinical Leads Practice Development Team Governance Team

By maintaining regular clinical exposure, the post holder ensures that learning remains practical, credible and responsive to the needs of patients, families and staff.
A current NMC Pin registration (RN) A legal right to work in the UK Previous experience in neurological care and complex care is required. Must have previous experience working with tracheostomies, spinal patients, and complex patients. Knowledge and experience in Motor Neurone Disease, neurology, or complex long-term conditions desireable, however, full training will be provided. Experience of managing complex patients, utilising advanced clinical reasoning skills to assess, diagnose and implement appropriate nursing support plans. Knowledge of development, clinical training and supervision of support workers. You will be able to demonstrate clinical effectiveness by reflecting current evidence base, national guidelines and use of outcome measures.
