Job summary

Winthrop Technologies Ltd. in Blyth, United Kingdom, seeks an experienced Quality Lead to ensure mechanical works meet project specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements on major data centre projects.

You will implement QA/QC procedures, inspect HVAC and piping systems, review ITPs and method statements, coordinate with construction teams and subcontractors, and drive continuous improvement across the QA process to support commissioning and snagging.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline required.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a QA/QC role within mechanical construction.
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, standards and documentation.
  • Experience inspecting HVAC, piping and related services.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures across the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all mechanical installations comply with project specs and standards.
  • Conduct inspections of HVAC, piping and related services.
  • Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors and consultants on quality.
  • Review and approve ITPs and method statements; manage NCRs and corrective actions.
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation and participate in quality meetings.
  • Support commissioning with complete quality documentation and close-out of snagging.

We are currently seeking an experienced Quality Lead to join our project team in Blyth, United Kingdom. This role will be responsible for ensuring all Mechanical works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures across the project lifecycle
  • Ensure all mechanical installations comply with project specifications, drawings, and industry standards
  • Conduct inspections of mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, and associated services
  • Coordinate with construction teams, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Review and approve method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs), and technical submittals
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure adherence to QA/QC standards
  • Record and manage non-conformances (NCRs) and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation, including inspection records, test results, and quality reports
  • Attend Site Meetings, Quality Meetings, and Engineering Reviews
  • Support the commissioning process by ensuring all quality documentation is complete and compliant
  • Collaborate with the project team to identify and resolve quality and technical issues
  • Assist with the management and close-out of mechanical snagging items
  • Promote continuous improvement of quality processes and standards
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a QA/QC role within mechanical construction
  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC processes, standards, and documentation requirements
  • Experience inspecting mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, and associated services
  • Familiarity with inspection test plans (ITPs), method statements, and quality reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and coordination abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and subcontractors
  • Data centre, industrial, or mission-critical project experience is advantageous
