Quality Inspector
Hailsham, East Sussex
We are looking for a Quality Inspector with experience in ISO 9001 and machine shop environments.
Responsibilities
- Measure and visually inspect components and assemblies to drawing using a variety of metrology equipment including the use of Faro Arm (CMM) equipment
- Test and validate components and assemblies using a variety of test equipment
- Visually inspect welds
- Ensure any defects and features not to specification are recorded through the non‑conformance process and corrective actions. Root cause analysis is established to correct errors and prevent future occurrence
- Visually inspect finished goods to ensure compliance to specification and be the champion for ensuring the required quality standard is delivered to customers
- Work with various individuals and teams to improve processes to manufacture product right the first time
- Update key performance indicators and metrics to drive quality improvement
Qualifications
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment
- Experience working to ISO 9001
- Good understanding of quality and process management tools and methodology, e.g. 5S/6S, flowcharts, VSM, Kaizen, Pareto, QCPC, SPC, AQL, FMEA, 8D, Cause & Effect, Ishikawa, 5 whys
- Experience using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficient with metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments
- Able to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications
- Qualified to BTech/HNC/HND level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes
- Previous experience of working in the vacuum industry
