Job summary

A leading engineering company in Wetherby seeks an experienced Quality Inspector to assess product quality against engineering drawings. The ideal candidate will have formal qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and experience in the Precision Engineering sector, alongside a strong understanding of geometric tolerances and quality standards. This permanent role offers a salary of £35k-£40k per annum with core hours of Monday to Thursday.

Overview

Perm role, £35k-£40k pa DOE, Mon to Thurs
WETHERBY

Are you an experienced Quality Inspector with experience working within the Precision Engineering sector and a keen interest in complex geometry? If so, I am looking for an experienced Quality Inspector to work for one of my clients, an Engineering and Manufacturing company based in Wetherby.

Note: This role is advertised as Permanent, with a salary of between £35k pa to £40k pa depending on experience. Core working hours will be 7.30am-5.15pm from Monday to Thursday, with flexibility required to suit the client’s needs.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect products against engineering drawings to assess whether products meet required measurements and quality standards using a range of hand tools, cameras and measuring instruments
  • Ensure conformity for one-off and small batch precision engineered components
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspection
  • Check TIR, run out and angled geometry of products
  • Complete First Article Inspections and NCRs
  • Understand geometric tolerances and various surface finishings
  • Liaise with other departments when needed
Qualifications
  • Formal qualifications within Mechanical Engineering or similar (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, HNC, HND etc.)
  • Experience working in a similar position, ideally within the Precision Engineering Industry
  • Ability to read, interpret and work directly from complex engineering drawings
  • Experience of using Conventional Measuring Instruments and equipment including micrometres, verniers, digital verniers and calipers
  • Knowledge of using inspection cameras and Royal and Trimos measuring instruments
  • Background working to tight tolerances, within 0.05mm max, including pocket geometry, pocket clearances, thread sizing, surface finish and weld imperfections
  • Good knowledge of ISO 9001 standards
  • Strong interest in geometry and measuring
  • Ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and issues simultaneously within tight deadlines
