Quality Inspector
Scunthorpe
£30,000 - £40,000 per annum DOE
Days Shift – 6:00am to 2:00pm (Monday to Thursday), 6:00am to 12:00pm (Friday)
Overtime - Available and paid at enhanced rates


About the Role

A well-established rail engineering and manufacturing business in Scunthorpe is seeking a dedicated and detail-focused Quality Inspector to join their team. The company specialises in the design and manufacture of high-integrity railway components, including couplers, bogies, and associated assemblies.

This role plays a key part in ensuring that all products meet rigorous industry standards and customer expectations, contributing to the business's strong reputation for quality and reliability.



Key Responsibilities

Carry out in-process and final inspections on railway components such as couplers and bogies
Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and bore gauges
Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications
Identify and report non-conformances; assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions
Maintain accurate records of inspections and quality control checks
Work closely with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and relevant rail industry standards
Support internal audits and customer inspections when required


Candidate Requirements

Essential:

Experience in a similar Quality Inspector role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
Proficiency with a variety of mechanical inspection tools and equipment
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Good communication and team collaboration skills
Desirable:

Background in rail, aerospace, defence, or automotive sectors
Familiarity with railway quality and safety standards
Experience with CMM or digital inspection systems
Internal auditing experience or relevant quality-related qualifications
