Job description

  • £27,000-£28,000 per annum (dependent upon experience & qualifications)
  • 38.5 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 6.00am to 2.30pm / Fri 6.00am to 12.30pm)

Overview

Knott-Avonride Ltd manufactures light trailer axles and are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance within our organisation.

Duties

  • Inspection and measurement of incoming parts/materials, in process components and finished products for compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Supporting top management in maintaining consistent implementation of the current Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment/fixtures as well as records - consistent with QMS requirements.
  • Identify and report non-conformances and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions, collaborating and liaising with other departments where required.
  • Management of the non-conforming material procedure.
  • Maintaining the customer complaints procedure in accordance with the QMS.
  • Establishing and maintaining a quarantine area whilst liaising with internal departments (and, if required, external suppliers and customers) towards preventing reoccurrence.
  • Supporting the Senior Quality Engineer as required.
  • Documenting and maintaining quality assurance and traceability records.
  • Investigating applicable rectification and warranty issues and reporting findings to top management in verbal and/or written form on a regular basis.
  • Conducting audits of existing quality processes in accordance with the ISO standard.
  • Follow and transmit company Quality policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the correct flow of paperwork for activities within the control of the QA department.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
  • Compliance with Company safety procedures and housekeeping requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering apprenticeship.
  • HNC or equivalent Quality qualifications.

Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Proven experience in a quality engineering or quality assurance role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Management practices, eg PPAP, APQP, 8D, ISO 9001:2015.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work both independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
