Job summary

Overview

VACGEN has driven innovation in ultra-high vacuum (UHV) technology for over 60 years, supporting cutting-edge research across the globe. Our high-precision products are trusted by world-leading institutions and researchers to deliver results, including projects with NASA, the European Space Agency, and CERN. We are recruiting a Quality Inspector to measure and visually inspect components and assemblies to drawing using a variety of metrology equipment. You will visually inspect welds, validate components and assemblies, and ensure any defects and features not to specification are recorded.

Location: Hailsham, BN27 4EL

Salary: Competitive, DOE

Contract: Full time, Permanent

Hours: Monday - Friday, 37 hours

Responsibilities
  • Observe the non-conformance process and take corrective actions, ensuring root cause is established to correct errors and prevent future occurrences.
  • Visually inspect finished goods to ensure compliance to specification.
  • Be the champion for ensuring the required quality standard is delivered to our customers.
  • Work with various individuals and teams to improve processes to manufacture our products right the first time.
  • Update KPI's and metrics to drive quality improvement.
Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience working to ISO 9001.
  • At least 3 years' experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing environment.
  • A strong understanding of Quality and Process management tools and methodology.
  • Experience of using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficient with a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications.

Desirable

  • Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes.
  • Previous experience of working in the vacuum industry.
  • Qualified to BTech/HNC/HND level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.
