Overview

Join the Quality team at Waukesha Bearings in Glasgow, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-performance bearings and sealing solutions for industrial machinery applications. We are looking for a skilled Quality Inspector to ensure our products meet the highest standards in our precision engineering environment. If you have proven experience using metrology and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and thrive on driving quality, we want to hear from you.

What you will bring
  • Over 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment of an engineering organisation
  • Proficient use of a range of conventional metrology gauges such as depth, external, internal and bore micrometers
  • Competent CMM programming ability
  • Proficient in CMM operating. 3-axis experience is essential; 5-axis experience is desirable
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements
  • Experience in applying problem solving methodology and working as a team to find a resolution
Qualifications
  • Time-served apprenticeship, SVQ3 or HNC in a Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Ideally an UT/PT (SNT or PCN) qualification
What you will do
  • Production Inspection: Carry out first article and first-off dimensional and visual verification using conventional metrology gauging and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Fully competent in reading and understanding engineering drawings, including knowledge and understanding of geometric tolerances.
  • Updating nonconformance reports and inspection results on the ERP system.
  • In-process auditing and sampling of semi-finished production parts.
Supplier Inspection
  • Organise and carry out supplier product inspections
  • Support the management of the calibration process within the ERP system
  • Support Engineering with Supplier related issues
  • Verification of supplier documentation, creation of customer certification, assisting Quality Engineers with Customer returns
