Job summary

MK Recruit is recruiting a Quality Engineering Manager to lead an established team of 8–10 people within a specialist engineering and manufacturing business serving aerospace, defence and space sectors.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and owns the Quality Engineering function and QMS, coordinating audits, non-conformance, RCA and continuous improvement while working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to ensure product quality and reliability.

Qualifications

• Significant Quality Engineering experience in design/manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001.
• Experience leading and developing a Quality team.
• Root cause analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
• Familiar with 8D, FMEA/PFMEA, Six Sigma, MSA, risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Quality Engineering team of 8–10 personnel.
• Manage and improve the AS9100/ISO 9001 QMS.
• Lead internal, external, customer and certification audits.
• Drive non-conformance management and corrective actions.
• Oversee First Article Inspection, surveillance, calibration and quality control.
• Support engineering change and configuration control.
• Monitor quality KPIs and drive improvements.
• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
• Manage relationships with customers and suppliers.

Are you an experienced Quality Engineering professional who combines a strong engineering background with the ability to lead people, improve systems and solve complex technical problems?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering and manufacturing business for a Quality Engineering Manager to lead an established team of approximately 8–10 people.

Operating within the aerospace, defence and space sectors, this is a technically challenging environment where quality and reliability are critical.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager and forming part of the wider management team, you’ll take ownership of the Quality Engineering function and Quality Management System.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading and developing the Quality Engineering team
• Managing and improving the AS9100 / ISO 9001 QMS
• Leading internal, external, customer and certification audits
• Driving non-conformance management, root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Overseeing First Article Inspection, product surveillance, calibration and quality control
• Managing quality risk and continuous improvement activities
• Supporting engineering change and configuration control
• Monitoring quality KPIs and driving improvements
• Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain
• Managing quality-related relationships with customers and suppliers

What We’re Looking For

Importantly, you must hold an engineering-related degree.

Mechanical Engineering is preferred, although candidates with Electrical or Chemical Engineering degrees and the right Quality Engineering experience will also be considered.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Significant Quality Engineering experience within a design/manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001
• Experience leading and developing a Quality team
• Strong root cause and problem-solving capability
• Knowledge of tools such as 8D, FMEA/PFMECA, Six Sigma, MSA and risk management
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances
• Quality inspection, measurement and control experience
• Experience dealing directly with customers, suppliers and auditors

Lead Auditor, Six Sigma or relevant professional qualifications would be advantageous.
