Job Description

Your Role

As a Test Automation Lead, you will shape and execute quality assurance strategies across complex enterprise systems. You will collaborate with the Test Automation Architect to design, implement, and scale robust automation frameworks. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), understands automation best practices, and is familiar with Guidewire testing and DevOps methodologies.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable automation solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the QA team.
  • Champion best practices in automation to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and efficient test suites.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement of the automation landscape.
  • Demonstrate a strong blend of technical acumen, leadership, and strategic foresight to drive quality at scale.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Test Automation Architect to define and implement scalable, maintainable, and reusable test automation frameworks.
  • Lead the development and execution of automated test scripts using Playwright (JS/TS).
  • Contribute to the design of test architecture, including framework structure, test data strategy, and CI/CD integration.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between automation strategy and business goals.
  • Support Guidewire testing efforts (Claim Center, Policy Center, Billing Center) by integrating automation into functional and regression testing.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
  • Ensure test coverage, traceability, and reporting using tools like JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
  • Mentor junior automation engineers and conduct code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
Required Technology
  • Proven experience in leading test automation initiatives and designing automation frameworks, with expertise in the following areas:
  • Automation Frameworks & Tools: Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, NUnit, BDD/TDD (Cucumber, SpecFlow)
  • Programming & Scripting Languages: Java, Python, JavaScript, C#
  • CI/CD & DevOps: Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Bamboo, Maven, Gradle, Git, Bitbucket
  • Cloud & Containerization: AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Kubernetes
  • API & Performance Testing: Postman, RestAssured, JMeter, Gatling, LoadRunner
  • Security & Service Virtualization: OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, WireMock, Mountebank
AI & QA Focus
  • AI for QA: Integration of AI/ML models for test case generation, defect prediction, intelligent test prioritization, and anomaly detection using tools like Testim and Functionize.
  • QA for AI: Validation and testing of AI/ML models including data integrity checks, model performance evaluation, bias detection, and reproducibility testing using ML frameworks.

  • Risk Assessment and prioritization of test cases by business impact.
  • Strategic Planning to align automation with business goals and forecast future needs (e.g., AI/ML in testing, shift-left).
  • Technical Communication to document frameworks and explain automation logic to stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration with DevOps, QA, Product, and Development teams.
  • Mentoring & Leadership to guide QA engineers and conduct code reviews.
  • Stakeholder Reporting using dashboards and metrics to communicate progress and quality.
  • Conflict Resolution to navigate tool/process disagreements while advocating for quality.
Preferred Experience

A test automation expert who has worked in the Insurance domain, with hands-on experience on Guidewire Suite, data testing, TDM, and TEMS. Demonstrated ability to analyze and implement appropriate automation strategies in evolving projects and collaborate with teams focused on next-generation testing technologies.
