Job summary

Gooch & Housego Torquay is hiring a Quality Engineer to strengthen processes and drive proactive quality across supplier and customer interfaces. You’ll lead audits, manage FAIRs and monitor compliance in a fast-moving photonics environment.

Ideal candidates have an engineering background, AS9100/ISO9001 exposure, and a data-driven mindset for continuous improvement, MRB leadership, and cross-functional collaboration in Torquay.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree preferred (not essential).
• Internal or Lead Auditor qualification (AS9100 or ISO9001) preferred.
• Strong auditing capability across suppliers, processes and systems.
• Experience with data analysis and statistics is advantageous.
• Background in engineering or quality assurance with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead internal audits across business and manufacturing processes.
• Support customer and third-party audits to maintain quality reputation.
• Oversee First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).
• Monitor product compliance and process repeatability for high quality.
• Coordinate quality input into contracts, changes and documentation.
• Chair MRB meetings and mentor colleagues in quality best practice.
• Drive continuous improvement projects and reduce failures.
