Quality Engineer

Location: Worthing, West Sussex

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Job Type: Permanent, Full‑Time

An established precision engineering manufacturer in Worthing is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen product and process quality. This is a hands‑on position working with production, suppliers, and customers to drive measurable improvement across quality metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead CAPA investigations - root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions
  • Conduct internal audits and support external / customer audits
  • Maintain and improve the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Analyse SPC and capability data (Cp, Cpk) to monitor performance
  • Manage non‑conformances, customer complaints, and supplier returns (8D reporting)
  • Update and maintain control plans, PFMEAs, and process documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve delivery performance
  • Prepare and present quality data, metrics, and reports to management
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across production and inspection
Ideal Background
  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing or precision engineering
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and formal audit procedures
  • Skilled in CAPA, SPC, 8D, and root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, Fishbone)
  • Strong communicator who can influence at all levels of the business
  • Proficient in Excel / Minitab or similar for quality data analysis
  • HNC / Degree in Engineering or related discipline desirable
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Lead Auditor training advantageous
