Job summary

MTrec Ltd Technical is recruiting a Quality Engineer for a permanent role within a fast-moving automotive manufacturing environment. You will manage QA for New Model Launches and act as the key liaison with customers to communicate development countermeasures while ensuring APQP/IATF16949 compliance across the program.

You will lead metrology activities, coordinate QA technicians, and support continuous improvement efforts, including kaizen and process audits, to deliver high-quality parts on

Qualifications

• HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in a fast-moving automotive manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of APQP and IATF16949 systems.
• 5 years of high-volume manufacturing experience, preferably with interior parts.
• Strong metrology expertise including CMM and gauge development.
• Process auditing experience; IATF/ISO auditor qualification is a plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to multitask.
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team.
• Proficient IT skills, especially Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage QA responsibilities of New Model Launches.
• Communicate part development countermeasures (PDR) to customers within agreed timescales.
• Support part development through trial build process.
• Represent QA in new model project teams; collaborate with suppliers and customers.
• Maintain APQP/IATF16949 documentation and standards.
• Coordinate new model metrology responsibilities to meet inspection standards.
• Interpret technical drawings and standards.
• Support continuous improvement activities such as kaizen and process audits.
• Coordinate APQP and Part Approval submissions.
• Support launch-related activities like SOP ramp up quality planning and gate reviews.
• Manage QA technicians' workload daily.
• Support Quick Response Quality Circle activities for internal and customer quality issues.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by Senior Quality Engineer.

Our client are market leaders in their industry sector, they are looking to recruit a Quality Engineer on a permanent basis.

The Job you'll do

• Manage QA responsibilities of New Model Launches.
• Provide a key customer liaison to communicate part development countermeasures (PDR) in agreed timescales.
• Support part development through all aspects of the trial build process.
• Represent the QA department within new model project teams, working closely with other team functions, suppliers and customers.
• Ensure APQP/IATF16949 documentation and standards are maintained throughout the new model process.
• Coordinate new model metrology responsibilities, to ensure all inspection standard and key feature requirements are completed in line with APQP/Project Milestone expectations.
• Clear interpretation of requirements relating to technical drawing and standards.
• Support of continuous improvement activities such as kaizen and process audits.
• Coordinate the submission of supplied part APQP and part approval.
• Support the new launch related activities, such as SOP ramp up quality planning, Gate review Management, Quality Functional Reviews, etc.
• Manage and coordinate QA technician's workload and daily activities.
• Support Quick Response Quality Circle activities in relation to internal and Customer quality issues.
• Undertake additional duties as requested by the Senior Quality Engineer.

About You

• HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline or the equivalent level of experience.
• Experience working within a similar role, gained in a fast moving, automotive manufacturing environment.
• Excellent understanding of all aspects of APQP management and the IATF systems and processes that support this.
• 5 years high volume manufacturing experience, preferably including interior parts and associated assembly.
• Excellent understanding of metrology, including CMM, gauge development and implementation in a production environment.
• Process auditing experience, ideally including an IATF/ISO auditor qualification.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
• The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Good IT skills with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
