Job summary

Purpose and Mission
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the site Quality Management System to the relevant International Standards with the site ‘audit ready’ at all times.
  • Apply appropriate Quality tools and techniques in order to deploy and improve EMEA Quality policies and procedures which ensure compliance to internal and external standards.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the Newcastle site quality management system (QMS) ensuring compliance to the relevant International standards such as ISO9001, API Q1 and any other relevant Manufacturing or Customer standards.
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the site QMS processes.
  • Ownership of the Site Quality Objectives and KPI’s including data analysis and presentation of data through the appropriate dashboards for both site and external processes.
  • Ensure all processes comply with the company QMS and all other internal/external standards; recommend process improvements as necessary.
  • Lead the internal/external audit program in accordance with company policies and procedures; escorting external audit bodies/inspectors as required; ensure all audits and reports are completed to schedule and all non conformances are raised, investigated and closed out.
  • Responsible for the internal failures/inter‑unit complaints and leading problem solving, root cause analysis and implement corrective action, where appropriate working with teams and following up on effectiveness of corrective action plans.
  • Assist in the red alert process to ensure all special requirements are met and recorded with reports/feedback supplied back to the red alert team.
  • Work with relevant functions to ensure the supplier quality assurance processes are adhered to and KPI’s are reviewed and actioned accordingly.
  • Ownership of Quality Layer Processed Audits and Gemba walks to promote a positive Quality culture at site and ensure all staff members are aware of their role in the delivery of Site Quality objectives.
  • Preparation of reports as necessary to fulfill the needs of internal and external customers; generate and complete order specific certification, quality and test plans.
  • Ownership of the site document control and calibration processes.
  • Ensure that the plant meets both internal and external customer expectations by establishing and maintaining a right first time manufacturing process and culture.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of relevant Inspection Instructions and any active SOP’s.
  • Understand the standards - work with production staff to ensure that all data is accurate and representative.
  • Problem solving and analysis - Understand the real problem; perform Root Cause Analysis - Direct support departments effectively in response to current issues.
  • Frequent communication to ensure major projects and current production are delivered on time.
  • Work with HR to ensure compliance with current legislation and company procedures; support strategic training plans.
  • Actively participate in the development of, and support the companies H&S plan; participate in site audits as required; ensure that all company HSE policies and procedures are personally adhered to taking a ‘no walk past’ approach.
Planning & Organising
  • Plan activities in accordance with priorities as identified and communicated by the department leads.
  • Organise internal and external (including customer) auditors/inspector activities as designated.
  • Be involved with daily meetings to identify any possible improvements or preventative measures.
Internal & External Relationships
  • Proactively support and communicate with all levels of the organisation and external parties including suppliers and customers.
Qualification & Experience (Essential)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of QA fundamentals.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of QMS requirements e.g. ISO 9001.
  • Able to prepare user friendly company procedures and documentation (technical authoring).
  • Able to prepare professional reports suitable for internal and external consumption.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy; analytical skills; time management; problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including customers and auditors.
  • Demonstrate a high level of motivation and commitment.
  • MS Office suite and general computer literacy.
  • Able to develop, improve and implement working practices, including facilitation.
  • Working to schedules and deadlines.
  • Working effectively within teams.
  • Auditing of processes and procedures in a lead capacity.
  • Managing Quality Technician (as assigned).
Qualification & Experience (Desirable)
  • Degree, HNC or equivalent, preferably in a science or engineering discipline.
  • Recognised lead auditor qualification.
  • Knowledge and evidence of application of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
  • Knowledge of testing and certification ref Bridon products.
  • Knowledge of Bridon’s manufacturing and admin processes.
  • Knowledge of Bridon’s policies and procedures.
  • Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Extensive experience in managing change using continuous improvement techniques, practices or processes.
  • Internal auditing of QMS.
  • 8D problem solving techniques.
  • 6 sigma tools and techniques.
Previous Experience
  • 2‑4 years of experience in quality assurance or related roles.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
