About Rheinmetall
One of Europe's most modern production facilities is currently being setup in Telford – the "UK Gun Hall" project.
Rheinmetall Weapon Munitions UK Limited (RWM UK) – a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group and part of the Weapon and Ammunition Division – is Rheinmetall's centre of excellence for the production and maintenance of large calibre weapon systems in the United Kingdom.
We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to take responsibility for quality planning, coordination, and assurance across the new manufacturing plant.
What You Will Be Doing :
- Ensuring compliance with defence standards such as MIL-STD, STANAG, ISO, ITOP, ITAR and ISO 9001.
- Interpreting and applying customer specifications, MoD requirements and Rheinmetall design authority instructions.
- Creating and maintaining quality plans, inspection instructions, SWI, control plans and acceptance criteria.
- Leading non‑conformance investigations using 8D, root cause analysis and corrective actions. Managing NCRs, concessions and deviations in line with Rheinmetall procedures.
- Providing on‑the‑floor quality support for machining, assembly and testing processes.
- Conducting internal audits and supporting external audits from customers, MoD and certification bodies.
- Calibration processes and maintaining the calibration of instruments and updating the register.
- Working with suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet defence‑grade requirements.
- Performing PFMEA for new products, modifications and process changes.
- Analyzing scrap, rework and defect trends to reduce Cost of Non‑Quality.
- Maintaining full traceability and documentation for critical defence components, including serialisation, batch control and configuration management.
- Supporting continuous improvement and promoting Rheinmetall’s quality culture.
- Recording, evaluating and tracking measures for Q reports in SAP
- Any other reasonable tasks requested by the Quality Manager.
What Qualifications You Should Have
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and defence regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, GD&T and defence specifications.
- Experience with 8D, RCA, FMEA, APQP and PPAP.
- Understanding of non‑conformance systems and controlled manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge and understanding of internal audits, in line with ISO 9001.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally in a high‑rigour defence environment.
