Overview

Quality Engineer | Permanent | Northampton | Up to £45,000 p.a depending on experience

Are you a detail-driven Quality Engineer with a passion for precision, documentation, and continuous improvement? EMBS Engineering are working with a long standing precision engineering company, a leading manufacturer of complex components for highly regulated industries, with a strong reputation for excellence. They are looking for a Quality Engineer to join their business on a permanent basis. Located at their Northampton site, the successful person will play a key role in maintaining and developing their quality management systems and documentation processes.

About the Role

This position is focused on ensuring that every component, whether produced in-house or bought-in, meets customer and industry standards. You’ll be at the heart of the client’s quality operations, creating, reviewing, and maintaining detailed documentation and records that underpin ISO 9001 compliance and drive operational excellence.

You’ll collaborate closely with Production and Engineering teams, taking ownership of quality processes, audits, and corrective actions. From preparing quality documentation such as 8D reports, ISIRs, Control Plans, and Process Flow Charts to managing inspection reports via Visual IPI, you will ensure every quality record is accurate, traceable, and compliant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage quality documentation for new and existing projects, including templates and record updates
  • Maintain and develop the quality management systems, ensuring robust record keeping
  • Generate inspection reports and maintain traceability of quality records within established systems
  • Collaborate with production to resolve non-conformances and drive corrective and preventive actions
  • Conduct problem-solving and root cause analysis to eliminate recurring quality issues
  • Maintain gauge control and calibration systems to ensure accuracy in measurements
  • Carry out internal audits to ISO 9001 standards and support continuous improvement initiatives
About You

You’ll be an organised and methodical professional with a strong background in quality engineering and documentation. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Strong quality background in a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Automotive, Medical, Oil & Gas
  • Proficiency in Quality Tools such as Control Plans, ISIR, and 8D reporting
  • Strong IT skills with ERP and MS Office systems
