Job summary

Leonardo in the UK seeks a Quality Engineer to join our Combat Air team in Luton. You’ll collaborate with IPTs to assure quality and drive continuous improvement across programmes, ensuring compliant, high-performance products while meeting cost and safety requirements.

This mainly onsite role at our Luton site offers engagement with operations, engineering and suppliers, with opportunities to influence quality data, reports and non-conformance reduction as part of Leonardo's quality drive.

Qualifications

• Education or experience in engineering, quality, manufacturing, or regulated industry.
• Familiarity with quality frameworks (AS9100/ISO9001) and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of RCCA, FAI, process mapping and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Guide QA and QC across IPTs to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Drive compliant, high-performance products meeting cost and safety targets.
• Develop and align PAPs with programme risks and improvements.
• Support LEONARDO Production System quality goals and KPIs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and data-driven reporting.

At Leonardo, we’re shaping the future of aerospace and defence with technology that protects people and communities. We’re currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Combat Air team in Luton.

In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with programme and project teams to ensure delivery of high-quality products and continuous improvement across key programmes.

This is a mainly onsite role from our Luton location.

Your Impact

As a Quality Engineer, You Will Work As Part Of An Integrated Project Team (IPT), Collaborating Across Operations, Engineering, And Other Key Functions To

• Provide guidance and support on all Quality Assurance and Quality Control matters.
• Contribute to the delivery of compliant, high-performance products that meet cost and safety requirements.
• Develop and align Project Assurance Plans (PAPs) with programme risks, opportunities, and improvement priorities.
• Help drive achievement of Leonardo Production System (LPS) quality goals, including KPIs related to Quality Notifications, MRBs, FRBs, etc.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across production, engineering, and quality workflows.
• Participate in key meetings across departments to ensure alignment on quality standards and objectives.
• Oversee and support the timely processing of concessions and production permits.
• Assist in preparing reports and quality data for programme and functional leaders.
• Support efforts to reduce Non-Conformance costs and improve root cause resolution.

What You’ll Bring

• Education or experience in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a similarly complex or regulated industry.
• Familiarity with quality frameworks such as AS9100 / ISO9001 and continuous improvement methods.
• Working knowledge of quality tools like Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), Process Mapping, Verification, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, and First Article Inspection.
• Background in a development environment is highly advantageous
• Strong analytical thinking and the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights.
• A collaborative mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience engaging with customers and suppliers on quality-related matters.
