Job summary

Metlen Energy & Metals is seeking a QA/QC Engineer to join our Renewables Division across the United Kingdom. The role focuses on delivering quality across large solar and energy storage projects during construction.

You will implement the Project Quality Management Plan, perform inspections per ITPs, review drawings and ensure compliance with standards, while managing NCRs and supporting commissioning and handover activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of QA/QC experience in construction or renewables.
  • Experience with ITPs, NCRs and quality audits.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the Project Quality Management Plan during construction.
  • Coordinate quality inspections across civil, mechanical and electrical works per ITPs.
  • Review drawings, specs and method statements for compliance prior to execution.
  • Manage NCRs, corrective/preventive actions and close-out timelines.
  • Support FATs, SATs, commissioning and handover activities.

Job description

Metlen Energy and Metalsis seeking aQA/QC Engineerto join ourM Renewables Divisionacross theUnited Kingdom. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of large-scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality are achieved throughout the construction lifecycle.

Your role will encompass:
  • Implement and maintain the Project Quality Management Plan throughout the construction phase.
  • Coordinate and perform quality inspections across civil, mechanical, and electrical works in accordance with Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, material submittals, and method statements to verify compliance prior to execution.
  • Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, test records, material certificates, and quality registers.
  • Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and preventive actions, ensuring timely close-out.
  • Coordinate inspections with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and third-party inspection bodies where required.
  • Verify incoming materials and equipment to ensure compliance with approved specifications and project requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor quality performance and provide guidance to ensure compliance with quality procedures.
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FATs), site acceptance tests (SATs), pre-commissioning, commissioning, and final handover activities.
  • Ensure accurate completion of as-built documentation, quality dossiers, and handover records.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with the HSE and Construction teams to promote a culture of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
Profile description:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in QA/QC engineering within construction, infrastructure, industrial, or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience on EPC projects, particularly within Solar PV, BESS, or power generation projects, is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems and inspection processes.
  • Experience preparing and implementing Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and quality documentation.
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and quality audits.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, material certifications, and applicable standards.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and project handover documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with electronic document management systems is an advantage.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel across project sites.
