Subsea7 in Glasgow is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Pipeline Group. The role is full-time and based in the Old Kilpatrick office, with potential short overseas travel. The QE will guide the use of quality tools and strategies across projects, ensuring readiness and performance.

The successful candidate will report to the PG HSEQ Manager and develop project quality plans, liaising with project managers, engineers, workshop and site staff, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar role within rigid pipeline, subsea, offshore, or fabrication environments.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards; internal auditor certification preferred.
  • Ability to apply contract quality requirements across project lifecycles.
  • Strong report writing and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Proven ability to drive continual improvement through NCR analysis and trending.

Responsibilities

  • Review client and international pipeline fabrication specifications and standards (DNV-ST-F101, API 1104, SA Schedule Q).
  • Generate, deliver, and ensure compliance to Pipeline Project Inspection and Test plans.
  • Construct and monitor project procedures and ensure the QM Systems are implemented on the project.
  • Generate and deliver final fabrication records book for all pipeline production scope to client.
  • Attend project planning meetings updating changes to Q/QC requirements on mobilisation matrix.
  • Support management, selection, development and training of the Global QC pool.
  • Schedule and conduct internal and external audits and verifications and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor product and service quality at suppliers and subcontractor facilities per project deliverables.
  • Participate in NCR process including reporting, corrective/preventive actions and close-out.
  • Participate in root cause analyses for IQF or SPI to ensure proper closure and actions.
  • Support development and implementation of QA/QC tooling, technology and initiatives.

Job description

Subsea7 are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Pipeline Group (PG) based in the Old Kilpatrick, Glasgow office on a full-time, permanent basis. This role may involve short spells of overseas travel, so candidates will need to show a willingness and readiness to travel.

Our Pipeline Group are responsible for developing and delivering fit-for-purpose rigid pipeline installation methods and associated analysis, supporting both projects and tenders. The team places a clear emphasis on ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective offshore installation operations.

The Quality Engineer will report directly to the PG HSEQ Manager and provide direct guidance, support, and advice with regards to the use of professional Quality tools, principles and strategies to PG projects and support rigid pipeline site quality readiness and performance.

The chosen candidate will support project quality requirements through effective planning and be the focal point for all quality matters on each project assigned by the HSEQ and Quality Portfolio Manager as required. They will continually develop, maintain, and refine project quality plans and activities through participation in project meetings and liaising with project managers, PG technical discipline engineers, workshop and site supervision, and regional Stakeholders.

What will you be doing?
  • Review client and international pipeline fabrication specifications and standards (including DNV-ST-F101, API 1104, SA Schedule Q)
  • Generating, deliver, and ensure compliance to Pipeline Project Inspection and Test plans
  • Construct and monitor project generated procedures and ensure the implementation of the Subsea7 Business Management Systems on the project
  • Generate and deliver final fabrication records book for all pipeline production scope to client
  • Attend project planning meetings updating any changes to Q/QC requirements on the mobilisation matrix (increased / decreased inspection requirements)
  • Support management, selection, development and training of our Global QC pool to ensure effective project performance
  • Schedule and conduct internal and external audits and verifications, and follow up actions/closure and service improvements
  • Monitor product and service quality on each assigned project at suppliers and sub-contractor facilities in line with project deliverables
  • Participate in the non-conforming review (NCR) process including reporting of NCRs (internal, Supplier and Subcontractor), identifying corrective and preventative measures and facilitating NCR close-out
  • Participate in and perform root cause analysis investigations for any Internal Quality Failures (IQF’s) or Supplier Performance Issues (SPI’s) to ensure satisfactory closure and preventative actions.
  • Support the development and implementation of Quality Assurance and Control tooling, technology and initiatives to deliver improved pipeline performance.
What experience would we like you to have?
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role and understanding of global personal certification requirements for Inspection services, ideally within a rigid pipeline, subsea & offshore industry or an engineering or fabrication environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and as a minimum a certified internal auditor.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of contract quality requirements to ensure that the appropriate and correct level of quality is applied during the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of continuous improvement through NCR analysis and trending, knowledge management, and Risk Management.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish relationships and communicate across all levels of stakeholders both internal and external.
  • You will have good report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
  • Agility is a must - the ability to prioritise and organise/prioritise your work across multiple projects with flexible schedules accordingly to meet deadlines set by management.
  • Have experience of resource planning, data input and be proficient in the use of Microsoft office package specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, and power BI.
