Job description

Basics: Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am‑5pm, Friday 8am‑1pm. Location: Near Stanley. Contracted hours: 40 per week. Holidays/Benefits: 25 days + 8 bank holidays; after every 5 years of service an extra day holiday up to a maximum of 4 days; annual pay rises negotiated yearly; pension; modern work environment; free parking; uniform.

Overview

Working within modern purpose‑built manufacturing facilities, the Quality Engineer will support a precision engineering business that manufactures components using first‑class machining and fabrication techniques.

Brief Overview of Duties
  • Support the Quality Manager in maintaining certifications.
  • Conduct product and system audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer‑specific requirements.
  • Compile documentation packs to support product delivery and traceability.
  • Provide engineering support for Visual and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) inspections.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine quality standards.
  • Apply First Article Inspection techniques in line with AS9102 requirements.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Use quality tools to detect, contain, and investigate non‑conformances, ensuring robust corrective actions are implemented.
  • Define and apply process control methods, including identifying critical control points and developing work instructions.
The Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Strong background implementing quality systems within a precision engineering environment – aerospace, machining, fabrication or similar.
  • Experience in Lean/problem‑solving techniques (8D), Kaizen.
  • Knowledge of 6 Sigma processes beneficial.
  • Competent at driving quality throughout a large business and manufacturer.

Commutable from: Stanley, Consett, Birtley, Gateshead and surrounding areas.
