Recruit4staff are representing a leading structural steel fabrication & engineering company in their search for a Quality Controller (Welding) to work near Wigan.

Job Details
  • Pay: £38,480 per annum (£18.50 per hour)
  • Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 6.00 AM to 2.00 PM (40 hours per week)
  • Duration: Permanent
  • Benefits: Birthday leave, Buy & Sell up to 5 days leave per year, Medicash Health Benefit, Referral Scheme, Full uniform & PPE provided, Workplace pension contribution of 8% (4% from employee, 3% from employer and 1% from the government), 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
Job Role

The Quality Controller (Welding) will ensure all welding operations are completed to the highest standards in accordance with specifications, drawings, and approved Codes of Practice. Responsibilities include overseeing adherence to WPS, monitoring drawing sign-offs, conducting weld tests for prospective employees, producing detailed reports, and performing final inspections prior to dispatch. You will also support welding activities when required to maintain production efficiency.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • Proven experience within the welding & fabrication sector, especially in structural steel or heavy fabrication
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety compliance
  • Excellent knowledge of welding standards
  • Good eye for detail
Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications
  • Apprenticeship, City & Guilds/NVQ in Welding or equivalent mechanical engineering discipline
  • Welding inspection qualifications
  • Quality-related qualifications
  • Previously held codings for MMA, MIG, or Flux Core welding
