Overview

Junior Quality Control Technician – Location: Braintree | Job Type: Permanent Full Time | Salary: Circa £13 per hour

Our client is seeking a Junior Quality Control Technician to join their Quality Department. The ideal candidate would either have completed an engineering apprenticeship or qualification or someone with at least one year’s experience. Full training will be given.

Day-to-day responsibilities
  • Review and verify documentation such as works orders, FAIR, and special customer requirements to ensure robust traceability and compliance with customer and EN AS 9100 standards.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of quality issues to identify root causes, initiate corrective actions, and ensure resolution.
  • Perform product verification using inspection equipment such as CMM, Keyance, shadow graph projector, micrometers, and bore micrometers.
  • Manage and maintain all aspects of the Quality Clinic and be proficient with the ERP system.
  • Ensure effective containment of reported issues to prevent defects from reaching customers.
  • Conduct visual and tactile checks on products to identify any burrs or damage.
  • Maintain 5S discipline according to business requirements.
  • Record all work activities on the ERP system and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental policies and participate in special projects as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, preferably within a regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection tools and methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills within the AS13100 framework.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Computer literacy and flexibility in work assignments.
  • Desirable skills include Visual FAIR experience, CMM programming, experience with Keyence measuring equipment, MSA Awareness, and SPC Awareness.
  • A supportive and collaborative work environment.
