The role

As a Quality Control Coatings Inspector, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most ambitious shipbuilding programmes – the Type 31 Frigate. This is your chance to contribute to a project that supports national defence and global maritime security, while developing your career in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:

  • Inspect structural and piping coatings in a fast-paced shipbuilding environment
  • Liaise with Lloyds Register and other verification bodies to ensure compliance
  • Manage Inspection Test Records (ITRs) and maintain completion records in CMS
  • Coordinate third-party inspections and manage inspection schedules
  • Support the Quality Manager in achieving project-wide quality and governance objectives

This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and is based on site at Rosyth.

Essential experience
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Control in naval ship construction
  • Ability to assess and assure the quality of work by production teams and subcontractors
  • In-depth understanding of coatings inspection and quality assurance processes
  • Broad knowledge of warship construction and sound decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and report writing abilities
Qualifications
  • Qualified to a recognised trade standard and relevant academic level
  • Minimum ICORR Level 2 CIS / NACE Level 2 / FROSIO Level 2
  • ICORR Level 2 in Thermal and Acoustic Insulation – Preferred
  • IPAF certification – Preferred

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
