A reputable food manufacturing company in South London is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join its team. The role involves ensuring high-quality standards by conducting tests and audits, updating quality manuals, and maintaining proper records. Qualifications

Quality Assurance Technician

Permanent

Location : South London

Our client is a large, reputable wholesale bakers, with nationwide and exclusive contracts with some of the most prestigious retailers and restaurants.

Their main focus is on producing the highest quality bread products for their wide variety of clients, processing and preparing by both hand and machine.

A permanent vacancy has arisen in their Quality Assurance team, to start as soon as possible. You will be responsible for ensuring the processes and products meet company quality and safety standards by conducting tests, inspections and audits. You will be responsible for collaborating with teams to improve quality systems, resolve defects and resolve any ongoing quality issues or threats to quality control. You will need to ensure proper and extensive records are kept and analyse any relevant data and information.

  • Your duties will include, but will not be limited to;
  • Performing tests on raw materials, work in progress and finished products, to ensure they meet quality standards
  • Daily verification of CCPs (cooking, cooling, freezing etc), daily temperature checks of production rooms, and daily quality checks on grades, weights etc.
  • Day to day HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) checks
  • Responsible for placing and non-conforming product On Hold / Restricted Use / Condemn and completing all relevant logs / paperwork
  • Completing Revision of Tasks risk assessments followed by training, and organising any additional machinery / equipment
  • Calibration of weight, temperature probes, scales weekly and maintaining records for annual internal and external submissions to external calibrations such as UKAS / ETI Certification
  • Ensuring that the Quality Manual and Factory Procedures are updated in accordance with new legislation, or as per corrective action following an audit
  • Daily site walk-arounds, checking cleaning standards, reporting absences of cleaners and highlighting any issues promptly
  • Food handlers training and induction sheets for both new starters and annual refresh – maintaining accurate records
  • Creating, amending and printing labels in accordance with New Product Development and / or changes to production recipes.
  • Daily monitoring of paperwork and checklists, such as Fridge / Freezer checks, Finished Product Weight Checks, CCPs, Waste Logs, Dosatron Units, Machinery start up checks, maintenance job log, Visitor & Contractor Sheets.
  • Glass and hard plastics monthly audit, and following any corrective actions with site engineer.

  • Working hours are Monday to Friday, office hours

Candidate Requirements
  • A good knowledge and minimum of one years’ experience of the food industry, or relevant degree
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Principles and Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Ability to work efficiently and methodically, with an excellent attention to detail
  • Ideally Food Hygiene Level 3 in date, Level 2 HACCP and Internal Auditor Training
