Job summary

Linemark is seeking a QA Technician to ensure paint and coating products meet quality standards by testing raw materials, in-process batches and finished goods. You will calibrate equipment, record data, and support ISO compliance while working with production, R&D and warehouse teams.

Candidates should have a chemistry or materials science background, strong attention to detail, and experience with SOPs and lab instrumentation. This role is based in the UK and involves on-site laboratory work.

Qualifications

  • Background in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of quality control and assurance principles.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic IT skills (data entry, spreadsheets, lab systems).
  • Experience in paint formulation/paint manufacture.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality control tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished paint products.
  • Conduct laboratory tests such as viscosity, density, gloss, colour matching, drying time, adhesion, and durability.
  • Approve or reject batches based on test results and specifications.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and quality standards are maintained.
  • Accurately record test data and maintain quality documentation.
  • Investigate and report non-conformances, defects, or deviations.
  • Assist in handling complaints, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality systems and external standards (e.g., ISO).
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory testing equipment.
  • Work closely with production, R&D, and warehouse teams to resolve quality issues.

Job description

Over the past 20 years, Linemark has been a world leader, developing line-marking products for the largest distributor in the UK and currently exporting to 34 countries, worldwide - on 5 continents.

The QA Technician is responsible for ensuring that all paint and coating products meet established quality standards and specifications. This role involves testing raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products, as well as supporting compliance with safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform quality control tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished paint products
  • Conduct laboratory tests such as viscosity, density, gloss, colour matching, drying time, adhesion, and durability
  • Approve or reject batches based on test results and specifications
  • Monitor production processes to ensure consistency and quality standards are maintained
  • Accurately record test data and maintain quality documentation

  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001
  • Understanding of UK health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH)
  • Experience in Microsoft D365
