Job summary

Randstad Digital is recruiting a QA Automation Engineer to join a fast-moving telecoms hardware team on a 12-month contract in the UK. You will test embedded firmware in Broadband Hubs, Wi‑Fi mesh extenders, and 4G/5G modems, driving automation with Python and Robot Framework.

Work in an Agile squad, build robust automation suites, harness Linux, Docker, and VM environments, and push quality across hardware devices used by millions of households.

Qualifications

• Experience testing embedded firmware, Wi-Fi routers, or CPE devices.
• Strong automation experience with Robot Framework and Python.
• Hands-on Linux, Docker and VM infrastructure exposure.

Responsibilities

• Test embedded firmware in Broadband Hubs, Wi‑Fi mesh extenders and 4G/5G modems.
• Develop and maintain Robot Framework automation suites in Python.
• Collaborate in an Agile squad and contribute to CI/CD testing.

NEW 12-MONTH CONTRACT: QA Automation Engineer

I am partnering with one of the UK's largest telecommunications and smart home brands to find a QA Automation Engineer for a long-term contract.

You'll be joining a highly skilled Agile squad responsible for testing the embedded firmware inside next-generation connectivity hardware—including Broadband Smart Hubs, Wi-Fi mesh extenders, and 4G/5G hybrid modems used by millions of households.

What you need to hit the ground running:

• Automation: Exceptional coding skills using Robot Framework and Python.
• Hardware Testing: Proven experience testing embedded firmware, Wi-Fi routers, or CPE devices.
• Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, and Virtual Machines.
• Networking: Understanding of Broadband/Gateway standards (FTTP, 4G/5G, IPv4/IPv6, etc.).
• Duration: 12 Months
