Job description

Are you passionate about service improvement and quality assurance? Barnsley Council are looking for a proactive individual to join thier team, supporting continuous improvement and governance in children's services.

This role will be based within the quality assurance and improvement team within childrens services, Barnsley MBC.

The role will be to support childrens social care and safeguarding services 4 days per week, specifically within our children in care and fostering services, acting as the key link officer for those services.

The role will lead and support delivery of our quality assurance framework, working as part of a small team of quality assurance and governance officers.

The role will also support policy and procedure development and maintenance and act as the key point of contact for our TriX repository.

The remaining 1 day per week will be to support our quality assurance programme for services for children with special educational needs and disabilities, working alongside our quality assurance and governance officer for SEND - SEND knowledge and experience is desirable but not essential to undertake the duties of this part of the role.

Key aspects of the role
  • Co-ordinating full case file audits and dip sampling, working alongside colleagues in the QA team and our Practice Development Hub, as well as with Heads of Service, Service and Team Managers.
  • Undertaking audits of social care practice, analysing the results of audits and formulating management reports and presentations as part of our closing the learning loop cycles.
  • Working with our case management system and developing and maintaining excel spreadsheets of quality data and information.
  • Presenting findings and learning from audits to service forums including team meetings and performance clinics.
  • Support service improvement and assurance frameworks to enhance outcomes for children, young people, and families.
  • Collate, analyse, and report on data to evidence impact and inform decision-making.
  • Assist with statutory and regulatory inspections, ensuring high-quality documentation and evidence.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of service strategies, policies, and systems.
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues, senior managers, and external partners.
  • Undertake project work, research, and quality assurance activities to drive best practice.

The role is hybrid, 3 days minimum working in our offices at Westgate Plaza and 2 days working flexibly.

Qualifications
  • Social Work England (SWE) registered social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, CSS, Degree in Social Work)
  • OR
  • Relevant degree or Level 7 qualification in a related area.
Other Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • Flexible working, including some out-of-hours duties.
  • Ability to travel within the Borough
