Job description

Our client specializes in underwater acoustic, inertial, optical, and sonar technologies. They are seeking a Quality Assurance Lead to work proactively with production and engineering teams to ensure product quality. This role involves maintaining compliance with the company's Quality Management System and ISO 9001 standards.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all products meet drawing and specification requirements.
  • Collaborate with cell teams to assess, document, and reduce quality risks using Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Develop and maintain Quality Control Plans for all product groups.
Quality Inspection & Compliance
  • Conduct inspections of electro‑mechanical assemblies and finished products from internal and external sources.
  • Verify documentation and certifications for inspected materials and components.
  • Inspect miscellaneous goods for damage, correct labeling, and completion of relevant tests.
  • Manage and maintain the Return to Stock (RTS) process, ensuring all materials are fit for purpose.
Issue Identification & Resolution
  • Report component and drawing discrepancies via Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Coordinate and document corrective and preventive actions to address root causes.
Dispatch & Documentation
  • Act as final sign‑off authority for product dispatch, ensuring compliance with inspection and documentation procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shipping and inspection records; issue reject notes as needed.
  • Manage release of customer‑facing software and manuals on USBs.
Calibration & Equipment Management
  • Oversee calibration and servicing of test equipment, ensuring ISO compliance.
  • Control and monitor Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) systems, including setting up new Electrostatic Protected Areas (EPA).
  • Prioritize inspection tasks across internal production and external suppliers.
  • Manage and oversee training and development of the Quality Release Inspector.
Skills & Experience
  • Ability to lead cell teams in creating and maintaining FMEAs and control plans.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and IT packages.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings and parts lists.
  • Experience with computerized stock control and MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of process control techniques.
  • Experience inspecting solder joints and crimping.
  • Familiarity with calibration systems and operations.
