Hours of Work

16 hours per week flexible to meet service needs. Core hours to be worked Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision for our minor injuries clinicians, ensuring robust induction processes, continuous professional development, and expert mentoring.
  • Champion quality improvement by spearheading clinical audits, monitoring performance, and implementing strategies to exceed CQC standards.
  • Work closely with clinical services managers and external partners to develop and refine care pathways, ensuring every patient receives safe, efficient, and compassionate care.
  • Maintain clinical expertise by conducting assessments, making diagnoses, interpreting x‑rays, and managing treatment plans in line with best practice.

Job Description

Job Title: Quality and Governance Lead – Urgent Treatment Centres.

Team: Clinical Governance Team

Base Location: Lexicon House, Leeds

Line Manager: Director of Clinical Governance & Quality

Hours of Work: 16 hours per week (flexible) plus possible additional contracted clinical shift.

Staff Group: All Clinical & Dental Triage Nurses

DBS Check Level Required: Enhanced with Child/Adult Barring due to providing care.

Vaccination Requirement:

  • Covid‑19 double vaccination not required but recommended.
  • Medium risk for requiring Hepatitis B immunisation; vaccination will be offered.
  • Flu jab recommended and will be offered.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Supervision
  • Postholder will supervise practitioners in Wharfedale and St Geor­gs UTC, including induction and probationary reviews.
  • Support PDR process, ensuring revalidation and learning from audit/incident.
  • Oversee staff CPD and support the wider education agenda.
  • Undertake clinical audit and participate in audit meetings.
  • Support the organisation to achieve CQC standards.
  • Collate responses to learning identified through quality monitoring processes.
  • Support clinical services manager in team meetings and suggest improvements.
Clinical Practice
  • Practice independently as an independent healthcare practitioner within a UTC.
  • Assess, diagnose, treat/referr­ your patients with undifferentiated minor injuries and minor ailments.
  • Interpret adult and paediatric limb x‑rays to aid diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Act within current independent prescribing legislation or approved Patient Group Directives.
Clinical Governance & Quality
  • Ensure clinical governance standards in accordance with policy and protocols.
  • Liaise with the Clinical Governance and Quality team regarding quality issues.
  • Work with system partners and local health providers to implement new care pathways.
  • Maintain a programme of clinical audit and attend meetings.
  • Apply Just Culture in reviewing complaints/incidents and develop action plans.
  • Escalate concerns where clinicians do not meet probation, quality or performance standards.
  • Support recruitment and ensure staff qualifications and checks are completed.
Communications & Relationships
  • Ensure agreed lines of communication and reporting within the team.
  • Promote effective cross‑functional working and operational support for objectives, standards and protocols.
  • Attend internal and external meetings representing LCD and engage accordingly.
Patient Care
  • Place patient care quality at the centre of organisational objectives.
  • Monitor safety and quality standards; manage risk within LCD.
Financial Resources
  • Ensure financial policies and procedures are maintained and adheres to the budget, achieving best value for money.
Confidentiality
  • Operate within information governance protocols and maintain business confidentiality.
Training
  • Complete defined company induction programme and core training, followed by mandatory refresher training; maintain accurate records.

  • Comply fully with the company's IP & C policies and attend training for safety and infection prevention.

  • Maintain duty of care to children and vulnerable adults, refer and record potential neglect or abuse following policies.
