Hours: 37 per week, 5 days (3 days office-based, remainder locality NP15 1GA)
Start Date: 17 December 2025
Duration: 16 Weeks (Temporary – short term sickness cover)
Pay Rate: £29.24 PAYE / £39.32 Umbrella

Their Early Help and Assessment Team provides vital intake and assessment services, ensuring timely interventions and effective support for families in need.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Social Worker to join the Early Help and Assessment Team. This role involves managing a diverse caseload, undertaking assessments, reviews, and preparing reports, including court attendance. You will provide advice and support to children, young people, families, and carers in line with the principles of the 1989 Children’s Act, ensuring safeguarding and resilience-building.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex and diverse cases, completing assessments and reviews.
• Prepare reports and attend court as required.
• Undertake quality assessments of individuals and families, analysing strengths and risks.
• Formulate and implement plans to safeguard children and support families.
• Respond to crises through office duty as required.
• Contribute to service development and supervise students where appropriate.
• Build effective working relationships with foster carers, partner agencies, and professionals.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with policy and legislation.
• Engage in supervision and training to develop professional skills.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
• Proven experience in children’s services, specifically intake and assessment.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, care planning, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work flexibly under pressure.
• Must live within reasonable distance of the office (1 hour maximum).
