About the Role

Nottingham City Council is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Qualified Social Worker to join the Child Protection Team within Children’s Services. This ongoing role is pivotal in providing statutory child protection services, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and development of vulnerable children and young people at risk of harm.

With flexible part-time or full-time hours and competitive hourly pay, this position allows you to tailor your work schedule to achieve an excellent work-life balance while making a tangible difference in children’s lives.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake thorough child protection assessments, risk assessments, and statutory casework in line with legislation and Nottingham City Council procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, monitor outcomes, and provide ongoing guidance to children, young people, and families.
  • Proactively identify safeguarding concerns, take necessary actions, escalate risks as needed, and liaise with senior managers.
  • Attend and actively participate in Child Protection Conferences, multi-agency meetings, and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver integrated, child-focused services.
  • Provide guidance and advice to families to promote positive parenting and safe family environments.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records, including statutory reports and case notes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of team practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice to enhance skills and knowledge.
