Job description
Qualified Nurse Associate - Mental Health

The closing date is 05 November 2025

To provide appropriate physical and mental health assessment and intervention for those patients who are on an extended recovery journey with secondary mental health services.

To provide a treatment, including depot administration, blood taking and monitoring service to all patients in Rotherham who are currently prescribed Clozapine and Lithium therapies.

There is an expectation that the post-holder will work collaboratively with the multi -professional team, to meet the needs of patients.

Main duties of the job
  • Assessment of need and risk.
  • Planning and delivering care, including administration of depot medication.
  • Physical Health Monitoring in alignment with best practice for SMI including ECGs, venepuncture and physical health checks.
  • Liaising within the multi-disciplinary care team, including carers, voluntary agencies etc.
  • To provide information as required.
  • To maintain accurate, contemporaneous, accessible records according to both NMC and Trust record keeping standards.
  • To liaise with GPs, primary care and all relevant services across the trust.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse Associate
  • To be a member of a professional body and to abide by their code of conduct and RDaSH trust policies and procedures.
Experience
  • Care and assessment of people with mental health problems; ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient contact.
Knowledge
  • Interventions, treatment approaches and evidence-based practice in the care of people with mental illness.
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
  • Knowledge of appropriate and relevant frameworks, legislation and policy
