Qualified Mechanic

Newly established in March 2024, SME Autos was incorporated to cater for an ever growing client base cultivated from our business owners contacts and reputation within the motor trade, built over the last 35 years. The successful candidate will have many opportunities to help further establish SME Autos and grow the business. We believe in a culture of promoting our staff internally to more senior positions as the business grows and further recruits are needed. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanic to join our team on a Full time basis. Part time hours are available for the right candidate. The ideal candidate will be hard working and possess a strong understanding of mechanical systems and be able to diagnose and repair a variety of vehicles, from Classics, to Nearly new. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The candidate will mostly be working alongside the business owner, who has many Masters Technical Qualifications, this is a fantastic opportunity to improve upon their knowledge base and experience. We are a partnered Workshop and Car Sales operation, working on vehicles from 30+ years old to nearly new. We work to RAC Quality Standards.

Duties
  • Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify issues, working to RAC Quality Standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as servicing and all aspects of vehicle repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical & electrical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Repair or replace faulty components and systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in the workshop.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve efficient workflow and high-quality service.
Skills and qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Mechanic, ideally a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Reliable, honest and hard working with high working standards.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, engines, and electrical components.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in automotive or mechanical engineering - minimum NVQ Level 3
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A valid driving licence is essential.
