Job summary

A regional healthcare provider in the UK seeks qualified Emergency Medical Technicians to provide high-quality pre-hospital care and patient transport across the North West. Job description

We're currently looking for experienced qualified Emergency Medical Technicians to work across the North West region of England.

This is a permanent contract and hours will consist of shift work.

To assist in the delivery of high quality and effective pre-hospital clinical care and patient transportation, responding to 999 emergencies, inter-hospital transfers, urgent hospital admissions and other allocated patient interventions commensurate with the role and responsibilities.

To use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to and transport emergency and routine calls as required.

Working as a crew or solo, you will initiate appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in both hospital and pre-hospital environment, selecting and applying appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.

The skill level and salary for this role does not meet the eligibility criteria for Skilled Worker/ Health and Care Worker visas as set out at gov.uk. Graduate visa holders should have no expectation of long-term employment through sponsorship. Additionally, your visa conditions and validity period must allow you to work in the role in question and for a suitable period to allow training and execution without requiring sponsorship.

Main duties of the job

You must have an IHCD technician award or an Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) qualification with recent experience working as an ambulance technician in an NHS ambulance service to apply for this role.

Any person with a drink driving conviction in the last five years (whether or not spent) and/or more than 6 points on their licence will not be considered for the role.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications / experience in the Ambulance Service) at Grade C or above one of which must be either English, Maths or science related.
  • IHCD technician award, an Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP) qualification with recent experience working in an ambulance technician role in an NHS ambulance service.
