We are seeking a dedicated Dispenser to join our friendly team at The Market Surgery. As a key member of our primary care team, the Dispenser plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and timely pharmaceutical services to our patients. Working closely with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff, the successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate preparation, labelling, and dispensing of prescriptions.fe use of their medication.

About us

The Market Surgery is a busy seven doctor practice providing care to over 10,000 patients in and around Aylsham in North Norfolk.

Working from purpose-built premises, located a short walking distance from the centre of Aylsham, we aim to provide a friendly and efficient service to patients fulfilling all their primary care needs. All our consulting rooms are on the ground floor, we have a dispensary next to the reception area and we have a car park for the use of our patients.

The practice is part of North and Waveney Integrated Care Service. We are a training practice for GP Registrars and medical students.

Job responsibilities

To work with colleagues to ensure the day-to-day smooth running of the dispensary, including:

Issuing prescriptions as required from discharge letters and tasks from doctors (if qualified),

Issuing repeat prescriptions as required from tasks from doctors and online, requests from patients (if qualified),

Sorting and counting prescriptions.

Dispensing medication as required and checking dispensed bags against signed prescriptions (if qualified),

Production of dossett boxes and checking they are correct and complete prior to collection/delivery (if qualified),

To order, record, dispense and dispose of controlled drugs as required by the relevant standard operating procedure (if qualified),

Improving profitability by accurate ordering of stock to ensure best value and to minimise the risk of out of date stock,

Unpacking deliveries, checking invoices, checking for out of date stock and stacking shelves,

Ensuring a high level of hygiene throughout the dispensary and that equipment is kept clean and in good working order.

To support the delivery of an accurate and efficient service to patients, including:

Promoting excellence in customer service and offering appropriate information and advice to patients and their carers.

To take payment when required.

Receiving and making telephone calls as required - divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery,

Completing SystmOne tasks from scanned letters and discharge summaries.

Enter patient/medication information on SystmOne ensuring careful recording of all relevant details.

The hours for this position are 22.5 per week

Monday - 09:00 - 17:00

Tuesday - 09:00 - 17:00

Friday - 09:00 - 18:30
