A healthcare provider in Barton-upon-Humber is seeking a qualified Dispensary Assistant to join their friendly team. This full-time position involves a variety of responsibilities including greeting patients, dispensing medications, and managing the dispensary phone. Central Surgery are looking for a qualified Dispensary Assistant to join our friendly team.
The position is full time, however we would consider part time/job share
Responsible for a wide range of dispensary duties, workingalongside our existing team of dispensers. Duties can include but are notlimited to greeting patients at the dispensary window, answering phone callsand dealing with patient enquiries. Picking, Dispensing and handing out medication to dispensing patients following protocol. Processing tasks for prescriptions requestson the clinical system (SystmOne).
Central Surgery is based in Barton, with a second site in Goxhill. Our large team work at both sites providing primary care services to over 17000 patients.We have 5 GP Partners, 4 salaried GP's, supported by a teamof advanced practitioners, nurses and other allied professionals. Along withour admin and receptionist teams we pride ourselves on being a friendly,supportive workplace.
Welcome patients at the Dispensary window,dealing with queries and prescription requests in an efficient manner
Assemble prescriptions ensuring all items aredispensed with accuracy
Ensure Controlled Drugs are dispensed, storedand recorded in line with the regulations for their schedule
Dispense weekly dosette trays for patients withadditional needs
Hand out medication to Dispensing patients andensure prescriptions are signed and endorsed and if appropriate collectprescription charges in accordance with Dispensary protocol.
Prepare prescriptions ready for home delivery
Manage the Dispensary phone, where patients canrequest repeat medication and ask for medication advice, and in response sendtasks to the Dispensary team members or Practice clinicians as appropriate.
Act on any SystmOne tasks which are sent toDispensary and phone patients when asked with information or advice from aClinician.
Order and process deliveries of medication, dressingsand appliances appropriate to the needs of the dispensary with the objective ofensuring continuity of supply for patients and minimising wastage
Ensure that drugs are received and stored in anappropriate manner in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
Ensure safe disposal of all returned medicationfollowing Dispensary protocol.
Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe workingenvironment using appropriate infection control procedures and ensuring fullcompliance of Health and Safety protocols within the Dispensary
Regular date checking of dispensary stock
Monitor fridge temperatures as neededmaintaining record log
Maintaining full and accurate records of alldispensing transactions.
Understanding of COSHH.
Always maintain effective security of theDispensary.
Partake in all mandatory e-Learning & faceto face training.
Attend and participate in Whole PracticeTraining Events
Provide cover in sickness and holiday absence.
Undertaking other reasonable duties within theframework of the post as directed by the Dispensary Manager
