Job description

The Quality and Health and Safety Manager will play a key role in developing and improving the current quality and reliability of AXSIM's products while ensuring a safe and compliant working environment. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and senior management to drive root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and robust safety culture across the business. This role will be a stand‑alone position, reporting to the operations manager, but will work closely with the production manager and supply chain manager to ensure business process and operations run smoothly.

Quality Engineering
  • Work with suppliers to optimise parts for manufacture, ensuring cost‑effective and high‑quality supply chain performance.
  • Conduct detailed root cause investigations to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Determine whether part defects are due to supplier nonconformance to drawings/requirements or internal manufacturing processes and advise, alongside the production manager, potential rectification methods to process.
  • Collaborate closely with design, procurement, and production teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain and improve documentation, inspection processes, and reporting systems for quality assurance.
  • Support new product development with input on manufacturability and quality considerations.
Health and Safety
  • Oversee and manage health and safety procedures across the facility, ensuring compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Prepare, maintain, and monitor safety reports, incident logs, and corrective action records.
  • Investigate first aid incidents and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Drive a positive health and safety culture through training, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with external advisors and internal management on health and safety audits and certifications.

Qualifications / Education Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Practical experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, ideally within automotive, aerospace, or precision technology sectors.
  • Proven background in supplier quality management, root cause analysis, and problem‑solving.
  • Strong understanding of quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA, or similar methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and processes, ideally with IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and external stakeholders.
