Job summary

Lennard Business Services is seeking a QC/QA Officer for a leading mining company in North Yorkshire. The role operates on an 8-on, 6-off shift pattern with 11-hour shifts, averaging about 44 hours weekly.

You will ensure quality compliance, calibrate equipment, inspect materials, and prepare quality reports. A degree or Masters in Mining or Civil Engineering is preferred, with QC/QA experience. A safety-first environment with on-site canteen and parking.

  • Visually inspect components against drawings and specs; identify non-conformances.
  • Fill out and maintain quality paperwork and records.
  • Build and hand over quality reports as required by the client.

Job description

Calling all QA/QC officers with a civils / mining industry background.

My client, a leading mining company in North Yorkshire, is seeking a QC/QA Officer for their site. These roles follow an 8‑on, 6‑off shift pattern, 11‑hour shifts (averaging 44 hours per week).

We are ideally seeking candidates with either a degree or Masters in Mining or Civil Engineering, with QC/QA and compliance experience on similar projects. The client will also consider graduates with a mining or related degree.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining and calibrating measuring equipment to various testing standards.
  • Performing inspection and testing activities of incoming materials and finished products in accordance with company procedures to determine that they meet required standards.
  • Inspecting precision components and assemblies against customer drawings and specifications – visual inspection of products before and after operations, detecting any non‑conformances or non‑compliant parts.
  • Filling out and maintaining proper paperwork.
  • Collating and building handover document files and quality reports as per client requirements.
  • Questioning the nature of defects and providing future solutions.
  • Comparing finished products to original patents.
  • Ensuring the adherence of all policies and procedures concerning quality are maintained and reporting all non‑conformances to the QC Superintendent.
  • Communicating quality issues to the QC Superintendent for immediate correction to ensure all products meet customer specifications.
  • Adhering to all quality and regulatory compliance procedures.
  • Conducting external supplier audits.
  • Ensuring compliance with job specifications, working with specifications for electrical equipment and materials.
  • Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards or specifications by performing a wide range of detailed calculations, checking diagrams and structural schemes.

Accommodation is provided for those who live more than 1 hour commute away from Whitby (whilst on duty / on shift only).

Company bonus scheme in place.

Company also offers additional 26 days leave (on top of shift rotation).

Canteen available on site (small charge for meals).

Applicants will be required to be drug and alcohol screened as this is a safety‑critical site and will also need medical assessments for fitness.
