Job summary

SGS is seeking a QC Manager for its Life Sciences operations in Deeside. You will lead a dynamic Quality Control team delivering analytical testing and documentation to support pharmaceutical manufacturing and product release.

Collaborating with clients, laboratory teams, Quality Assurance, and Production, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, in GMP compliance, and to the highest quality standards.

Qualifications

• Significant experience working within a pharmaceutical GMP Quality Control laboratory environment.
• Experience leading a laboratory team.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, QMS, Data Integrity, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, organisational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage QC laboratory operations, ensuring testing, documentation, and projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and on schedule.
• Act as a key client contact, supporting project delivery, hosting audits, and maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Oversee GMP, QMS, Data Integrity, Health & Safety, and regulatory compliance across all QC activities.
• Manage, develop, and mentor QC scientists and laboratory personnel, ensuring high performance, competency, and engagement.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, investigations, CAPAs, and quality enhancements to support operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience working within a pharmaceutical GMP Quality Control laboratory environment.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience within a laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, Quality Management Systems (QMS), Data Integrity, and pharmaceutical regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, organisational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing client relationships, quality investigations, deviations, and CAPA activities.
