Job summary

A leading engineering and construction organization is seeking a QC Inspector with multi-discipline mechanical experience to provide high-quality inspection and quality control services across major oil, gas, and petrochemical projects. This role demands technical expertise in welding and pipelines, along with a strong focus on compliance with industry standards. Ideal candidates will have at least 10 years of QC experience and relevant certifications. The position is located in Qatar.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years (degree) / 15 years (diploma) experience in QC.
  • Experience in GCC projects desirable.

Job Title: QC Inspector - Mechanical (Multi-Function)

Location: Qatar

Overview

A leading engineering and construction organisation is seeking a QC Inspector with multi-discipline mechanical experience to provide high-quality inspection and quality control services across major oil, gas, and petrochemical projects. The role requires technical expertise in welding, coatings, pipelines, and mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement applicable elements of the company's quality management system.
  • Ensure site safety and proactively participate in safety matters affecting the construction project.
  • Prevent environmental pollution and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Coordinate and perform inspections, tests, and punch list activities on site.
  • Review and familiarise with project-specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding of contract requirements.
  • Conduct quality inspections on construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors to verify compliance with project specifications.
  • Ensure contractor documentation (inspection records, tests, surveys) meets project quality requirements.
  • Complete relevant forms and reports for inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and end users.
  • Ensure all measurement and testing equipment is calibrated and records maintained.
  • Monitor construction activities to identify non-conformances and assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with supervisors and contractors to plan NDE activities and ensure proper execution.
  • Assist senior QA/QC engineers in reviewing contractor QA/QC documents, including QCPs, ITPs, WPS/PQRs, material approvals, MRBs, and project dossiers.
  • Witness and verify fabrication, installation, inspection, and testing activities for structural steel, piping, pipelines, tanks, rotating and static equipment, including associated interfaces.
  • Monitor welding, NDT, PWHT, hardness testing, alloy verification, and painting activities, ensuring compliance from procedure approval to final testing.
  • Support receiving inspection of permanent materials and verification of documentation for traceability.
  • Follow up on corrective actions and close out non-conformances.
  • Monitor trends of non-compliance and report contractor performance to senior QA/QC engineers.
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation and records.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Formal training in quality control and membership in a recognised professional institution preferred.
  • Certifications such as NACE Level 2, CSWIP 3.2 / AWS SCWI Sr. Welding Inspector, and ASNT NDT Level II are required; equivalent internationally recognised certifications may be considered.
  • Minimum 10 years (degree) / 15 years (diploma) experience in QC within oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries.
  • Experience in GCC projects desirable.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of CRA, lined pipelines, exotic materials (DSS, SDSS, Ni, Cr), and welding inspection/testing.
  • Strong understanding of QC processes, testing requirements, and standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural, multidisciplinary project teams.
