Job summary

Belazu is seeking a QC Auditor for our Greenford, London site to protect product quality, legality and food safety across operations. The role involves routine QC checks, audits and supplier interactions to ensure conformance with specifications and accreditation standards.

The successful candidate will have a food/science degree or equivalent practical experience, with knowledge of HACCP and GMP, and an ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines in a busy environment.

• You understand food safety, HACCP, BRCGS, GMP and routine QC controls.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine QC testing and product checks, including organoleptic, pH, water activity, salt, micro, chemical and physical checks.
• Inspect raw materials, traded goods, packaging and labels on receipt against approved specifications.
• Carry out back-door checks and risk-based sampling based on raw material, supplier and approval risk.
• Inform suppliers of quality issues, challenge repeat non-conformances and work with them to ensure root cause and corrective action.
• Assess concessions where materials remain safe, legal and fit for purpose, seeking supplier agreement where possible.
• Investigate out-of-spec results, waste or inefficiencies and escalate product or cost risks promptly.
• Record, report and trend test data, escalating issues where required.
• Conduct internal audits and compliance checks, including GMP, hygiene, fabrication, glass and brittle plastic, HACCP, traceability and shift-based procedural checks.
• Support BRCGS, customer and external audit readiness through accurate records, evidence gathering and close-out support.
• Work with Production, Hygiene, Engineering, NPD and Technical teams to maintain standards and resolve issues quickly.
• Provide support to the QA team whenever required.

You'll be a custodian of quality for our site processes, records, incoming materials and supplier controls - from routine testing and product release to inspections, audits and investigations.

What the day job looks like:

As a QC Auditor, you will:

• Carry out routine QC testing and product checks, including organoleptic, pH, water activity, salt, micro, chemical and physical checks.
• Inspect raw materials, traded goods, packaging and labels on receipt against approved specifications.
• Carry out back-door checks and risk-based sampling based on raw material, supplier and approval risk.
• Inform suppliers of quality issues, challenge repeat non-conformances and work with them to ensure root cause and corrective action.
• Assess concessions where materials remain safe, legal and fit for purpose, seeking supplier agreement where possible.
• Investigate out-of-spec results, waste or inefficiencies and escalate product or cost risks promptly.
• Complete calibration, equipment verification, environmental swabbing and external laboratory testing to schedule.
• Record, report and trend test data, escalating issues where required.
• Conduct internal audits and compliance checks, including GMP, hygiene, fabrication, glass and brittle plastic, HACCP, traceability and shift-based procedural checks.
• Support BRCGS, customer and external audit readiness through accurate records, evidence gathering and close-out support.
• Work with Production, Hygiene, Engineering, NPD, Technical Services and Supply Base to maintain standards and resolve issues quickly.
• Provide support to the QA team whenever required.

This role will suit you if:

• You have a food, science or related degree-level qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
• You've ideally got at least a year's experience in a similar QA, QC or food manufacturing role - though relevant graduates are also welcome.
• You understand food safety, HACCP, BRCGS, GMP and routine QC controls.
• You've got a sharp eye for detail and a right-first-time mindset.
• You're a confident problem solver who uses logic and evidence to get to root cause.
• You can manage multiple audits, checks, samples and deadlines in a busy department.
• You communicate clearly and confidently across Production, Hygiene, Engineering, NPD and Technical teams.

This role may not be for you if:

• You're not comfortable escalating issues or challenging suppliers on quality concerns.
• You prefer a narrow, single-focus role rather than juggling testing, audits and investigations.
• You struggle with time management, reliability, deadlines, or working effectively as part of a team.
• You find it hard to stay organised under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
