Job summary

Astemo Bolton is seeking a Quality Technician for our Bolton production plant. The role focuses on analytical testing, function verification, and reliability assessment of automotive components used in powertrain, chassis and electronics.

You will work cross-functionally to support production and continuous improvement projects. The ideal candidate has GD&T and CMM programming experience, strong fault-finding skills, and good report-writing ability.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of GD&T and CMM programming.
• Experience operating test stands and inspecting automotive parts.
• Strong fault-finding and report-writing abilities.
• Proficient with Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

• Analyse returns and identify defects and causes.
• Perform function tests and measurements on products.
• Test product reliability per customer needs and timescales.
• Produce clear, accurate testing/investigation reports.
• Inspect equipment regularly and perform basic repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain procedures and SOPs for test equipment; support PPAP submissions.
• Support production with containment and other ad hoc duties as required.

We are seeking a Quality Technician to strengthen our Bolton production plant.

Your Core Responsibilities Include

• Analyse Returns: Perform analysis of products returned from customers/field, identify defect and cause.
• Function Test and Measurement: Perform function test and measurement on new/re-designed and existing products as required.
• Product Reliability: Test product reliability, according to customer needs and timescales.
• Reporting: Produce clear and accurate reports for testing/investigation/measurement and analysis results and conclusions with the use of analytical methods if required.
• Equipment Inspection/Repair: Inspect equipment regularly and perform basic repairs and maintenance.
• Documentation: Maintain basic procedures and SOP's for test equipment. Support Customer and Supplier PPAP submissions.
• Supporting Production: Support production department on ad hoc duties as and when required. For example, if there is a requirement for containment activities

Profile And Qualifications

• In depth knowledge of GD&T along with CMM programming skill, operation of test stands and functional knowledge of automotive parts.
• Report writing skills, communication skills, fault finding skills i.e. the ability to identify the basic causes of faults.
• ONC level or further education in Engineering field.
• PC literate. (Word/Excel)
• At least 2 years experience in a manufacturing environment programming and using CMM's

Salary : £35-38,000 gross annually
