Job summary

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment or a degree in food science.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., BRC), auditing, and HACCP desirable.
  • Internal auditing qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, issue, and train staff on process control records and quality standards.
  • Attend trials and product launches to support technical requirements.
  • Audit and monitor food safety, quality, and legality within the factory.
  • Conduct internal audits (systems, GMP, CCP).
  • Investigate customer complaints and attend complaint review meetings.
  • Troubleshoot and support Operations/Technical teams in resolving issues.
  • Monitor hygiene, food safety, GMP, traceability, allergen management, legality, and quality standards.
  • Carry out traceability and mass balance exercises.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a QA Technician to join a leading food manufacturer, reporting directly to the Factory Technical Manager. This role plays a key part in ensuring food safety, quality, and compliance across a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compile, issue, and train staff on process control records and quality standards
  • Attend trials and product launches to support technical requirements
  • Audit and monitor food safety, quality, and legality within the factory
  • Conduct internal audits (systems, GMP, CCP)
  • Investigate customer complaints and attend complaint review meetings
  • Troubleshoot and support Operations/Technical teams in resolving issues
  • Monitor hygiene, food safety, GMP, traceability, allergen management, legality, and quality standards
  • Carry out traceability and mass balance exercises
  • Ensure foreign body controls are in place and effective
  • Organise and attend QC panels, ensuring corrective actions are followed up
  • Calibrate key equipment and perform swabbing (microbiological and allergen) as required
  • Maintain GMP standards to ensure readiness for unannounced audits and customer visits
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment OR a degree in food science
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., BRC), auditing, and HACCP desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills across all levels
  • Organisational skills to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities
  • IT literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and good numeracy skills
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Internal auditing qualification desirable
  • Flexibility to work nights, evenings, or weekends when required
