Job description

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an QA/QC Inspector on a 12 month contract based in Scotland.

Inspection & Quality Control
  • Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of wind turbine components, with emphasis on nacelle, drivetrain, generator, yaw system, and auxiliary systems.
  • Verify component integrity, alignment, torqueing, mechanical assemblies, electrical installations, and wiring standards.
  • Inspect structural components (frames, bedplates, gearboxes) for weld quality, coating, and dimensional compliance.
  • Perform quality checks during installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning phases.
  • Review and validate OEM inspection checklists, QCPs, ITPs, and work procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), and corrective action follow-ups.
  • Maintain QA/QC documentation including test certificates, torque logs, material traceability, and punch lists.
  • Participate in completion of Mechanical Completion (MC) and Power Performance/Commissioning documentation packages.
Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all inspections comply with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and applicable wind turbine OEM requirements.
  • Verify adherence to industry codes such as IEC standards, DNVGL-ST-0126, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and assist with root cause analysis for recurring issues.
Coordination & Communication
  • Interface with OEM representatives, site management, construction teams, and subcontractors to resolve quality issues.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, quality briefings, and technical meetings.
  • Escalate significant non-conformances and support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in wind turbines.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and OEM manuals.
  • Proficient in quality documentation software (NCR platforms, digital inspection tools).
  • High attention to detail and ability to identify defects accurately.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments including offshore and elevated platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or Quality Engineering (or equivalent technical discipline).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of QA/QC experience within renewable energy, wind turbine manufacturing, or heavy mechanical industry.
  • Proven experience inspecting wind turbine nacelles, gearboxes, generators, yaw systems, and internal electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with ITPs, QCPs, NCR systems, torqueing standards, and LOTO procedures.
Desirable Qualifications
  • OEM-specific training (e.g., Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Nordex).
  • Certification in ISO 9001 auditing.
  • NDT Level II (MT, PT, UT or VT).
  • GWO certifications (Working at Heights, First Aid, Fire Awareness, Manual Handling).
