Job summary

Ciena Edinburgh is offering an intern role in QA for the Service Aware Operating System (SAOS). The team focuses on testing new software features for IP Switching platforms, with exposure to containers, SDN, NFV and related networking topics.

You will work under mentorship, gaining hands-on experience in automated and manual testing within a collaborative environment. You will learn about routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), virtualization, and cloud networks while contributing to real network

Qualifications

Pursuing MCA/M.Tech/B.Tech in CS/IT/EC or similar.
Experience writing tests in Python or similar dynamic languages.
Knowledge of Linux (Debian preferred), containers and Kubernetes is desirable.
Experience with automated test frameworks such as Jenkins and Robot Framework is advantageous.
Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Confluence, Jira).
Knowledge of routing/telecommunications concepts (OSPF, BGP) and network services.
Self-starter capable of prioritising tasks to meet objectives.
Ability to work in a team and independently as needed.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Assist QA in testing SAOS during development and feature validation.
Contribute to both manual and automated test execution.
Learn from mentors while building expertise in virtualization and networking topics.
