Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on large‑scale industrial or power projects (nuclear experience advantageous).
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems installation and mechanical construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with UK site safety regulations and permit‑to‑work systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanical works on‑site, including piping installation and erection activities.
  • Coordinate daily activities with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor progress and report to the Site Manager.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues promptly.
  • Conduct inspections to verify work compliance with specifications.

Mechanical Supervisor – Location: Hinkley Point C (Somerset)
Contract Type: Contract (Hourly Rate)
Start Date: ASAP
Project: HPC Nuclear Power Plant – Prefabrication, Installation & Erection of Piping Systems

Role Overview

The Mechanical Supervisor will oversee mechanical site activities related to piping systems installation and erection within the Power Island scope at Hinkley Point C. This role requires strong leadership on‑site, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise mechanical works on‑site, including piping installation, prefabrication, and erection activities.
  • Coordinate daily activities with site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Monitor progress and report to the Site Manager and Project Management team.
  • Resolve technical and operational issues promptly to avoid delays.
  • Conduct inspections and verify that work meets engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of site activities, including permits, progress reports, and quality records.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor on large‑scale industrial or power projects (nuclear experience advantageous).
  • Strong knowledge of piping systems installation and mechanical construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with UK site safety regulations and permit‑to‑work systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS clearance (Baseline Personnel Security Standard).
  • Right to work in the UK and ability to mobilise quickly.
Desirable
  • Previous experience on nuclear or major energy projects.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC processes and documentation.
  • CSCS or equivalent site safety certification.

Working Pattern: 10‑4 shift (site‑based).
