Abound in London is seeking a Software Engineer to build scalable backend systems and own features end to end.

You will work across Python, Django, APIs, and data stores, collaborating with product and frontend teams to ship reliable, well-architected software.

The role emphasizes ownership, craftsmanship, and rapid iteration in a fast-moving fintech environment with a hybrid office pattern.

Qualifications

• Solid backend experience with Python.
• Experience with Django.
• RESTful API design or consumption.
• GraphQL API design for frontend.
• Postgres relational data models.
• Familiarity with Pydantic or typed Python.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, ideally Google Cloud.
• Strong architecture, API design, performance, reliability.
• Product-minded with ownership and accountability.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and ship solutions.
• Commitment to clean code and thoughtful reviews.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship high-quality backend features using Python, Django, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Pydantic, Postgres, and Google Cloud.
• Own backend work from concept through delivery, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and iteration.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver cross-team features.
• Work with frontend to shape strong user-facing and internal experiences.
• Provide technical judgment to improve scalability and evolution of systems.
• Contribute to backend architecture, API design, data modelling, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Raise the standard of your work and that of those around you.
