Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a hands-on Microsoft Purview Engineer with deep experience in Data Governance and Data Catalogue. The role focuses on deployment, automation, configuration management, and production support of the Purview platform across development and production environments.

You will design CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, implement IaC, create connectors, enable data lineage, document configurations, and produce operational knowledge articles to support governance teams and multi-cloud

Qualifications

• 5+ years in DevOps or Platform Engineering.
• 3+ years implementing and supporting Microsoft Purview.
• Experience with automated deployment and rollback processes.
• Experience configuring APIs and custom metadata connectors.
• Experience supporting data lineage and metadata ingestion.
• Experience in Agile delivery teams and production environments.
• Microsoft Fabric implementation experience.
• Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK principles.
• Experience with Databricks and cataloguing tools (Informatica, Collibra, Alation).
• Experience in UK Government or highly regulated organisations.

Responsibilities

• Implement multi‑cloud integration, primarily with AWS hosted datasets.
• Configure, administer, and support Purview environments.
• Implement and manage Data Catalog, Data Governance, Metadata Management, and Data Lineage.
• Configure Collections, Data Sources, Classifications, Glossaries, Domains, and Governance Assets.
• Support Purview scanning, metadata ingestion, and discovery.
• Troubleshoot Purview issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Design and maintain Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate deployment and configuration using IaC.
• Create automated release pipelines across Development, Test, UAT, and Production.
• Maintain configuration baselines and rollback mechanisms.
• Maintain deployment artefacts and release documentation.
• Support automated validation and testing of Purview configurations.
• Maintain repository of Purview configuration files.
• Record and track manual configuration changes.
• Create environment baselines and comparisons; manage change control.
• Configure and integrate REST APIs with Purview; develop connectors.
• Integrate Purview with Fabric, Databricks, SQL Server, Synapse, Power BI, AWS data sources.
• Support data lineage and data cataloguing visibility; collaborate with governance teams.
• Provide production support and incident management for Purview platform.
